From July 16 to 17, Liu Jianxin, a senior power expert and former Vice President of China Development & Investment Corporation, visited the China-Russia (Zhuji) International Laboratory for inspection and guidance. Dr. Lei Li, Executive Director of the laboratory, Zheng Huating, Chairman of the Board, and young doctoral researcher Cha Shenyu accompanied him on the visit.

On July 16, Comrade Liu Jianxin visited the laboratory’s exhibition hall and gained a detailed understanding of the lab’s development history, research directions, and progress in industrialization. During his inspection of the laboratory’s newly developed electrical materials, Comrade Liu Jianxin particularly noted that the technological approach of replacing copper wires with aluminum wires had been proposed for quite some time. However, having seen the actual results firsthand at the lab, he concluded that these materials truly hold the potential to serve as viable replacements and have a promising future.

During the subsequent exchange and symposium, Dr. Lei Li highlighted the laboratory’s focus on addressing major national needs aligned with the “Dual Carbon” strategic goals, as well as the emerging demands for new electrical materials, advanced power system equipment, and next-generation renewable energy electrical devices. He innovatively proposed nanocarbon-enhanced conductivity technology and long-life organic-inorganic composite insulation technology, and developed a series of high-performance, novel aluminum-based electrical materials. These materials have been successfully applied in various electrical equipment—including transformers, reactors, motors, electromagnetic pumps, and electric welders—and are now serving the development of new grid systems.

Comrade Liu Jianxin expressed his recognition of the laboratory and its industrialization company’s development trend—“steady progress amid stability, and steady improvement amid stability”—as well as the achievements they have made. He pointed out that, against the backdrop of the “dual carbon” goals and the construction of a new power system, there is unlimited potential for the development of new electrical materials and equipment. He also highlighted the bright prospects for the laboratory and its industrialization company, and offered professional advice and guidance on the laboratory’s future development.

On July 17, Dr. Lei Li and Chairman Zheng Huating accompanied Comrade Liu Jianxin on a field visit to the laboratory’s demonstration production base for new materials and power equipment.

After the field trip concluded, the laboratory officially appointed Comrade Liu Jianxin as a member of the Academic Committee of the China-Russia Joint Laboratory. Dr. Lei Li presented him with the appointment letter and expressed heartfelt gratitude for his guidance and support to the laboratory. Comrade Liu Jianxin praised the laboratory’s research directions and achievements, and commended its efforts to swiftly translate cutting-edge scientific findings into practical productivity. He also stated that he would actively fulfill his duties as a committee member and contribute to helping the laboratory achieve even greater breakthroughs in fields such as new electrical materials and advanced power equipment.

This inspection, research visit, and appointment not only represent high recognition of the laboratory’s achievements but also reflect our earnest expectations and strong support for its future industrialization. Taking this as motivation, the laboratory will continue to enhance its core competitiveness, accelerate the commercialization of scientific research findings, and drive the high-quality development of new power systems, efficient and sustainable materials, and the green, low-altitude economy through deep technological expertise.
