From June 11 to 13, the 25th EPOWER All-Electric Expo and the Shanghai International Exhibition of New Power Equipment and Transformers were grandly held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Hosted by the China National Electric Apparatus Industry Association, this expo brought together 1,043 energy companies from around the world, with an exhibition area covering 60,000 square meters and attracting professional visitors from 66 countries and regions.

Held concurrently Sub-forum on the Development of Transformer Design and Manufacturing Technologies Up, Dr. Li Haomin, Deputy Director of the China-Russia Joint Laboratory, was invited to deliver a keynote speech entitled “New Ceramic-Based Composite Insulated Aluminum Windings and Their Applications in Transformers.” Dr. Li systematically introduced the laboratory’s significant breakthroughs in new ceramic insulation and composite insulation electromagnetic wires and foil products, and highlighted the application achievements of these innovative materials in next-generation dry-type transformers. The report provided an in-depth analysis of the remarkable technological advantages and broad application potential of this technology in the fields of new electrical materials and energy-power equipment, drawing intense attention from the attending experts and industry peers.

The forum drew an enthusiastic response on-site, as Dr. Li and the experts engaged in an in-depth discussion on the technical principles, performance characteristics, and industrial application of the new ceramic-based composite insulation aluminum-winding technology. This technological breakthrough will provide transformative, high-efficiency, energy-saving, and environmentally friendly solutions for critical sectors such as new-energy power stations, rail transit, and large-scale data centers, thereby strongly promoting the green transformation and development of related industries.
The new ceramic-insulated dry-type transformer developed by the China-Russia Joint Laboratory features a core technology—the TECO ceramic-based composite insulation technology, which boasts completely independent intellectual property rights. This technology has successfully overcome the performance limitations of conventional transformer materials, significantly enhancing both the high-temperature resistance and mechanical strength of electromagnetic wires. Not only does this effectively address the key challenges associated with the use of aluminum windings in high-voltage, high-capacity transformers, but it also substantially reduces the operating temperature of the transformer during operation. This technological breakthrough holds the potential to extend the service life of transformers by several times, and is of great significance for driving the development of power equipment toward a greener, low-carbon future characterized by greater safety, higher reliability, longer lifespan, and lower energy losses.
