Release time:

2022.07.25

On July 22, Pan Cunxiang, Secretary-General of the Xinjiang Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, and Ji Ling, President of the Xinjiang New Materials Association (in preparation), along with one other member of their delegation, visited the laboratory. Chairman Zheng Huating and Deputy General Manager Xiao Jianfeng gave a detailed introduction to the lab’s core technology R&D directions, key products and solutions, and progress on industrial projects. Secretary-General Pan noted that the China-Russia Joint Laboratory focuses on the research and development of foundational materials technologies. It has gradually developed domestic alternatives for “bottleneck” technologies, and its core technologies hold broad application prospects in fields such as new electrical materials, high-voltage power transmission and transformation, and wind power generation. Xinjiang boasts abundant mineral resources, outstanding high-purity aluminum producers, and rich green energy sources like wind power, making it an ideal partner for the laboratory to achieve complementary advantages in industrial chain integration. President Ji stated that Xinjiang is a land of great potential. The early visits to Xinjiang by members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Ministry of Science and Technology fully demonstrate the high importance attached by the Party Central Committee and the State Council to scientific and technological innovation in Xinjiang, as well as their strong support for innovative resources—including policies, projects, bases, platforms, and talent. President Ji also mentioned that Dr. Lei Li, the laboratory’s executive director, hails from Xinjiang. She welcomed him to bring advanced concepts and scientific technologies back home, leveraging the international experience gained at the China-Russia Joint Laboratory to boost his hometown’s scientific and technological development and industrial revitalization.
